Exchange Honored as a VETS Indexes 4 Star Employer
For the fourth consecutive year, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service has been recognized as a VETS Indexes 4 Star Employer for its commitment to recruiting, hiring, developing and retaining Veterans.
“The Exchange is honored to provide meaningful employment opportunities to our Nation’s heroes,” said Executive Vice President Dr. Patrick Oldenburgh, the Exchange’s chief human resources officer. “Veterans understand innovation, dedication and service, all important aspects for working at the Exchange.”
The VETS Indexes Employer Awards evaluates employers’ policies, practices and outcomes related to:
- Veteran job candidate recruiting and hiring
- Veteran employee development and retention
- Veteran-inclusive policies and culture
- Support for members of the National Guard and Reserve
- Military spouse/family support.
Veterans, military spouses, dependents, National Guard members and Reservists make up nearly half of the Exchange’s U.S. workforce. As the Department of Defense’s largest retailer, the Exchange prioritizes attracting top talent by offering competitive compensation packages, including paid vacation and sick leave.
When Veterans join the Exchange, their military service counts toward an industry-leading benefits package. This demonstrates the Exchange’s commitment to honoring Veterans for their service to a grateful country and supporting their desire to continue serve in other ways.
“Being recognized as a leading employer of Veterans for the fourth year by VETs Indexes is testament to our core values and ongoing dedication to supporting and empowering every member of our military community,” Oldenburgh said. “It also reflects our deep appreciation for their service and passion for serving those who serve.”
