Exchange Brings Taste of Home to Vicenza Community with Five Guys

The Five Guys at Vicenza draws a crowd on opening day.

U.S. ARMY GARRISON ITALY – Service members, families and members of the USAG Italy community can enjoy a taste of home with the opening of the Exchange’s Five Guys restaurant at Vicenza Ederle.

Garrison Commander Col. Scott Horrigan and Deputy Garrison Commander Matthew Seifert joined Five Guys Store Operations Manager Giuseppe Greco, Exchange Regional Vice President Michele Weisshaar, Italy Consolidated General Manager Don Walter Jr. and Exchange Services Business Manager Roberta Satterfield in celebrating the grand opening of the popular restaurant May 22.

This is the second Five Guys the Exchange has opened on a military installation, with the first opening at Ramstein Air Base in 2022. The restaurant serves up classic American fare with burgers, fries and milkshakes.

“The Exchange is excited to bring a taste of home to our troops here at Vicenza,” Walter said. “A lot of coordination went into making this happen. We’re very grateful to Five Guys, the Directorate of Public Works and the installation for their help and support. All the effort has paid off in seeing the enthusiastic response from our customers.”

The restaurant held a soft opening on May 14 with more than 630 diners served and 528 milkshakes sold on the first day.

Anyone can dine at Exchange restaurants, including civilians and visitors. Dining at Exchange restaurants and shopping at Exchange stores help makes the military community stronger, as 100% of Exchange earnings are reinvested in the military community through support for on-post Quality-of-Life programs and capital improvements.
