Fort Leavenworth Exchange Opens Unattended Retail Unit at Military Prison
Four unattended retail units (URU) have opened at Fort Leavenworth, including one designated to support the Joint Regional Correctional Facility staff at the Military Correctional Complex on May 16.
Employees at the JRCF now have access to a selection of products including snacks, beverages and toiletries from the Exchange’s URU.
“Serving the JRCF staff aligns with the Exchange’s mission to support those who serve,” said General Manager Cynthia Gregg. “The retail unit provides convenient food options to the staff who work late and varied hours.”
Additional URUs opened in May for those with access to the Mission Command Training Center; Garrison Command building; and the Single Soldiers Quarters.
Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Erika Rhine-Russell and Garrison Commander Col. Duane Mosier helped the Exchange team cut the ribbon on the new retail units.
“Command saw the need for Soldiers’ access to better-for-you options,” said Services Business Manager Candace Bullock. “The Exchange answered the call and installed multiple URUs, giving service members at Leavenworth around-the-clock option for snacks and beverages.”
