Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine Visits NAS JRB Fort Worth BXtra
Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine held a meet-and-greet for service members and their families Thursday at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth BXtra. Irvine, an ardent supporter of the military, spent two hours posing for photos and signing autographs.
“The reason I do these events is twofold,” said Irvine. “Number one, it’s important for me to connect with the Exchange associates because it’s morale-boosting for the people who serve the people who serve. Secondly, spending time with those who serve and letting them know we care is very important.”
Approximately 150 people attended the meet-and-greet and appreciated Irvine taking time from his busy schedule to spend time with the military community.
“This is a huge morale boost, especially from someone of his caliber” said Master Sgt. Lindsay Estell. “It’s really cool that a celebrity like Chef Robert will take time out of his day to support us.”
Irvine has appeared on and hosted a variety of Food Network shows including “Dinner: Impossible, Worst Cooks in America” and “Restaurant: Impossible.” He operates two restaurants including a Fresh Kitchen by Robert Irvine, located in the Pentagon. Construction for a Fresh Kitchen at Joint Base Andrews began in April and the restaurant is scheduled to open this summer.
“Having Robert come to NAS JRB is very exciting and the team is excited,” said NAS JRB Exchange General Manager Diana Krieger. “He is a huge advocate for our military and it’s very heartwarming to have someone like him come to the Exchange.”
Irvine’s connection to the Exchange expands beyond military kitchens. His FITCRUNCH® products are available at ShopMyExchange.com and in select Exchange stores as well as his book, “Overcoming Impossible: How to Lead, Build a Team, and Catapult Your Business to Success.” He’s also spoken at Exchange conferences, inspiring Exchange associates to take care of others.
