Reminder: Entry Deadline is Friday for HEROES Logo Contest
The entry deadline is fast approaching for special emphasis program HEROES’ logo design contest. The contest reflects a wider effort to update logos across the Exchange’s special emphasis programs. Entries are due Nov. 15.
Judges are looking for a patriotic, meaningful symbol representing the contributions and sacrifices made by active-duty service members, Exchange associates and retirees who are Veterans, their spouses and family members from all branches of service.
Primary colors must be red, white, and blue. The Exchange logo must be incorporated in the design.
Designers are also encouraged to use other military imagery as desired.
Each letter of the HEROES acronym has its own meaning: Honor (H) Exchange military veterans; Educate (E) Exchange associates; Recognize (R) the sacrifices of Veterans; and leverage Opportunity (O) and the Experience (E) of Veterans for the Support (S) and benefit of the Exchange mission.
To enter, participants must submit a high-resolution .jpeg, .png, or .PDF file of an original logo to DiversityInclusion@aafes.com. Associates must enter “Logo Contest – HEROES – Name of Associate” in the subject line of the email. Only original entries will be considered.
The winner will be notified Nov. 25 and receive Director/CEO or COO challenge coin and a Thanks Award of $250. The design will be revealed the last week of November.
“This logo contest allows Exchange associates to honor the contributions of our military community,” said HEROES co-executive champion and U.S. Air Force Veteran Mike Smietana, the Senior Vice President of Real Estate. “Every member of our community brings a long list of qualities, including creativity, an eye for detail and good judgment. We are excited to see what associates will come up with.”

APEX (AAFES Asian Pacific Exchanges) and PRIDE (People Respecting Individuality, Diversity, and Equality) held their contests in May and June. Visual merchandisers, Hill BX’s Corran Stockstill and Joint Base Andrews BX’s Earl Carpenter III, were announced as the winners.
