Fort Riley’s Big Red One Express is the pilot location for the reimagined Exchange convenience stores as of Feb. 12. The innovative format infuses new items, specialty beverages and hot-to-go foods into the assortment. A new queuing (line) system at the registers gives customers multiple chances to pick up items on their way out.

The successful opening of the Germersheim distribution center on Feb. 1, highlighted the Exchange team’s collaboration skills. Not only was the Giessen DC closing, but the Exchange had just wrapped up its busiest shopping season and stores were conducting their annual inventory. The opening ceremony also coincided with the first day the distribution center was officially shipping and receiving merchandise.

The Exchange distribution center in Germany is relocating from Giessen to Germersheim this month. The new center creates a Logistics Center of Excellence with the Defense Logistics and Defense Commissary Agencies in conjunction with U.S. Army Europe and U.S. Army Installation Management Command.
