Exchange to Support Troops at Border with Mobile Field Exchange

MFE

On Monday, the Exchange received a request from Command at Davis-Monthan AFB to standup a Mobile Field Exchange (MFE) in support of troops at the border. The MFE departed the West Coast Distribution Center on Tuesday, arrived at “Sunglow Tent City” Wednesday and is expected to open today.

According to a recent “Wall Street Journal” article, approximately 2,700 troops are currently in Texas, 1,200 in Arizona and 1,100 in California, with another 2,000-plus troops expected to be in place within days, bringing the final tally close to 8,000.

Mikel Hunter, the general manager at Davis-Monthan, reports that the troops on the ground there are “excited and thankful to hear that we are in the process of setting up an MFE at Sunglow Tent City.”

Exchange Logistics, Merchandising and IT teams are all fully engaged in providing support for the troops and are standing by should additional support requirements be identified for locations in Texas, California or Arizona.
