Sibling Revelry: Dan Daniel DC Associates Excel Together
The Brzeski siblings demonstrate daily their dedication to the Exchange and commitment to Soldiers, Airmen and their families.
Exchange associates Matthew, Amy and Justin Brzeski have never let life’s challenges determine their worth.
“They treat me well here,” Matthew said. “I like being with other people. I’ve got lots of good friends here.”
The siblings are materials handlers at the Dan Daniel Distribution Center. At Dan Daniel, associates with targeted disabilities—including the Brzeski siblings—comprise 3.2% of the workforce, exceeding the Exchange’s goal of 2%.
The Brzeskis are a unique trio that exemplifies the Exchange’s core value of Family Serving Family. The Brzeskis’ dedication to the Exchange and commitment to Soldiers, Airmen and their families is proved daily.
Matthew reached 20 years with the Exchange in 2019, Amy expects to get there in July, then Justin in 2022.
“I came for an interview,” Amy said. “They hired me. I started making boxes and then started moving up. I get the workload out and make sure everything is done right—no mistakes.”
Logistics Operations Manager Belinda Brown, who regularly works with Amy and Matthew, says the Brzeskis are valued teammates.
“They do well at handling tasks and can be counted on to accomplish their work,” Brown said. “If there’s an error, Amy goes to the computer and solves the problem.”
Amy moves merchandise from pallets to shipping containers bound for Exchange stores. Matthew assembles those containers and inspects them for correct labeling. Justin moves merchandise from trucks and places them on the pallets that Amy and other associates move to containers.
“Justin’s first job each day is to unlock all the doors, so we all count on him,” Logistics Operations Manager Rosalind Ivey said. “Justin has a personality—people love being around him.”
The worldwide Exchange Outstanding Associate with a Disability in 2019 and 2017 also worked at the Dan Daniel DC.
“We have a culture of working with people and utilizing their talents, regardless of any limitations they might have,” Dan Daniel DC Manager Scott Montgomery said.
“Matthew, Amy and Justin not only have jobs, but they have careers.”
