The Exchange at 125: Blasts from the Past

Exchange facilities have come and gone in many forms over the years.

Some exchanges around the world are now just fond memories. Many of them started in the early days of World War II to train Army pilots, but then closed after combat ended.

In Texas alone, air bases were once located in Amarillo; Austin; Fort Worth; Laredo; and Army posts in Galveston and Mineral Wells, among other towns and cities.

Across the U.S., Exchanges closed as their installations fell victim to the budget ax. There’s Myrtle Beach AFB, S.C. (opened in 1955, closed in 1993); Fort Ord, Calif. (opened in 1954, closed in 1994); and many more.

Wow, they need to update one store just as the one that is rendered above. Same lettering, then add fashion clothing from different clothing names: i.e. Gucci, Channel or what have you and watch, sales will increase, this is “however” after everything hopefully cools down with covid. This is just my honest “to heart” opinion.

Good thoughts, Anthony. Thanks for sharing them with the Exchange community!

I was wondering of a chance of self bagging for customers? Or is there works for cash back on Star Card?
