Graduating Senior Learns to ‘Keep Pushing No Matter the Circumstances’ at Fort Benning Arby’s
On Aug. 15, Fort Benning Exchange Arby’s Associate Shaynon Bell will move 259 miles away to attend the University of South Alabama.
But the lessons the 18-year-old student learned at Fort Benning will remain with her for a lifetime. In fact, her job impacted her so much she put it center stage in her senior quote, featured in the Glenwood School’s Class of 2021 yearbook.
“It can be challenging sometimes juggling school, work, home responsibilities and my sleep schedule,” Bell wrote. “Working has taught me to just keep pushing no matter the circumstances—it will all be worth it in the end.”
Bell, who graduated May 20, started working at Arby’s two years ago, when she was 16. Having grown up in an Army family, Bell knew the Exchange was like a big family—and she wanted to be a part of it.
“It’s been great,” she said. “I’ve grown a lot since I started working here and learned a lot about time management. I just love the environment. The people I work with, the customers: They’re amazing.”
Bell’s manager, Jerry Dickinson, said Bell sets an excellent example for her peers, getting along with her co-workers and providing top-notch customer service.
“She’s just always happy,” he said. “No matter what kind of day she’s having, her job is a priority.”
