126 Years of Family Serving Family – Gloria Barros, Cannon Air Force Base

Gloria Barros

One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 126 years of family serving family

Gloria Barros’ passion for her job is evident, and her 35 years of service with the Exchange has only increased her enthusiasm.

“I love working for the Exchange!” she said.

Gloria Barros stands with her “pride and joy”—the handbag department—at the Cannon Air Force Base Exchange.

Barros currently works as a softlines associate in the handbag department at the Cannon Air Force Base Exchange, but began her career with the Andersen Exchange in Guam, where her then-husband, an Air Force Veteran, was assigned. She had another job on base, but was looking for a change and ended up working in children’s clothing at the BX.

Twenty-four years ago, Barros moved to New Mexico to be closer to her son and has been working at the Cannon Exchange ever since.

Exchange Western Region Senior Vice President Ronny Rexrode recently presented Barros with her 35 Years of Service award to celebrate her dedication to serving the community.

Her favorite part of her work is the people.

“Everyone is so friendly!” Barros said. “I love to serve our military family.”
