Exchange Helps Host Marvel Studios’ ‘Moon Knight’ Screening and Q&A with Oscar Isaac at Camp Arifjan
Soldiers at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait were treated to a screening of two episodes of Marvel Studios’ “Moon Knight,” an original series streaming on Disney+, as well as a virtual Q&A with star Oscar Isaac and Grant Curtis, one of the series’ executive producers.
Soldiers at Camp Mielec in Poland also participated in the Q&A. The presentation was hosted by the Exchange and Camp Arifjan Morale, Recreation and Welfare in conjunction with Disney, Marvel Studios and the USO.
The April 5 event was also a family affair: Brig. Gen. Lance Curtis, commanding general, 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command at Camp Arifjan, is executive producer Curtis’ brother. Col. Elizabeth Curtis, commander of the 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade in Poland, is BG Curtis’ wife.
“Gen. Curtis reached out to the USO, the USO reached out to Disney, Disney reached out to the Exchange and asked us to do the screenings,” said Nalan Howard, the Exchange’s motion picture program planner. “The Exchange did the screening, and the USO handled the Q&A. The general thanked the Exchange for making it happen.” From Poland, Col. Curtis also expressed her thanks.
In Marvel Studios’ “Moon Knight,” Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. He discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.
During the Q&A, Soldiers attempted to get Isaac to provide spoilers about the series, but whenever Isaac would start to answer, the screen would “freeze,” resulting in groans and laughter from the audience.
Isaac, who had roles in “Star Wars” and “X-Men” movies, also answered questions about those franchises.
The Exchange also helped host an April 7 screening at Camp Buehring in Kuwait. Future screenings will take place at other Southwest Asia installations and in Poland.
