What brought her to the Exchange: “The Exchange was my first employer and my mother, Lorie Sanborn, worked for them. What she did at first: Katharine began her Exchange career as a food handler at Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty) in 2009. After taking a brief hiatus from the Exchange, Katharine returned to food handling in 2015 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis. In 2016, she began working at the Exchange headquarters in Dallas.

Katharine served in the Air Force from January 2017 to January 2023, returning to the Exchange in April 2023 n her current role as EUCT. Based out of Kuwait, Katharine is responsible for network infrastructure and maintaining software across Southwest Asia contingency locations.

Military connections: Katharine’s grandfather was in the Air Force for 23 years.

Memorable moments: “I helped open the new Exchange location in Camp Buehring, Kuwait.”

Family serving family: “The Exchange community has always been very welcoming and accepting. Our teams are really close and supportive of one another.”
