Exchange director/CEO

Team Exchange,

The Exchange is positioning the organization for the future by significantly integrating retail operations and merchandise functions to improve the customer experience and increase sales and earnings.

This reorganization has been done with great care and consideration to deliver an elevated customer experience to increase customer satisfaction and earnings for critical military Quality-of-Life programs.

On March 2, Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Jason Rosenberg, who has more than 35 years of experience as an operator at the Exchange, will assume the role of president. As president, Jason will lead alignment of Merchandising; e-Commerce; Services and Food; and Store Operations.

The role is vital to establishing a more cohesive approach for all customer touchpoints, and like other EVPs, will report to the director/CEO. And, starting July 1, the chief merchandising officer will also align under the president.

Europe/Southwest Asia Region Senior Vice President Marla Randolph is being promoted to executive vice president/chief operating officer. Europe/Southwest Asia Region Vice President Stephanie Burns will be the region’s senior vice president. Marla and Stephanie are long-tenured executives who are fully prepared to make remarkable contributions in their new roles.

The timing of this reorganization is crucial as Executive Vice President/Chief Merchandising Officer Karen Cardin will retire July 1 after 35 years of steadfast service. Working closely with Karen, an excellent succession plan is in place to build upon the great work Team MD has done to modernize our merchandising strategies.

Senior Vice President of Merchandising Eric Sidman will be promoted to executive vice president/chief merchandising officer June 8. Vice President of Softlines Marissa Carpenter will be promoted to senior vice president of merchandising. Eric and Marissa have extensive retail leadership backgrounds. Eric has more than 15 years at the Exchange and has served at Office Depot, RadioShack and other retailers. Marissa is an expert merchant whose resume includes May Department Stores, Macy’s and JCPenney.

As this reorganization occurs, Executive Vice President/Chief Logistics Officer Alan French and Senior Vice President of Supply Chain COL(R) Fred Hannah will be permanently promoted March 2. Alan and Fred have proved they are ready to lead the Logistics team as our broader reorganization begins to transform and improve work processes across the enterprise.

Team Exchange’s support in maximizing the forecasted benefits and value creation with this new structure is instrumental to achieving the results needed to protect and preserve the benefit we are honored to provide service members and their families, past, present and future.

Please join me in congratulating Jason, Marla, Stephanie, Eric, Marissa, Alan and Fred.

Onward and Upward!

Very best,

Tom
